When starting a painting the emphasis is still on the object, the figure, the motif, the way I perceive it. However, the process is unpredictable and can send me in a completely different direction that may have nothing to do with the initial idea. Sometimes form and colour separate themselves from the topic, but still hint at where they came from. For this reason, I do not have any preconceived visions of the finished painting.

For me, the importance of a painting is not only the visible end result, but the whole process of its making is important for its significance.
